A hot night at Nichols last night – a couple of close games to tighten up the standings.

In the early game a short benched Team Sharley played a smart, calculated game – staying just ahead or even with Team Lia for most of the game. Team Sharley led by 1 at the end of the 1 but things were tied at the end of the 2 as a result of a nice seeing eye/bouncing goal from HeatherD. Team Sharley outscored Team Lia 3-1 in the 3rd to eke out a narrow victory – Team Sharley 9 – Team Lia 7 and pull themselves back to within 2 points of the league lead.

In the 2nd game the goalies were feeling the effects of the hot and humid arena but it didn’t show up in the amount of scoring – maybe the players were feeling the heat even more. Team Jacquie scored a couple in the 1st with Team Dirka only replying with a single marker. Team Jacquie scored a couple more in the 2nd while Team Dirka was held off the scoreboard until late in the 3rd. A single Team Dirka goal threatened to make it close but time ran out on a uncharacteristic low scoring game Team Jacquie 4 – Team Dirka 2. Team Jacquie keeps pace with Team Sharley, 2 points off Team Lia’s league leading 13 points. Team Dirka is still win less, jockeying for the right team mix for the playoffs!
